Terms of Service

Last updated 8 September 2026

These terms cover buying a shell from KeyLab. Placing an order means agreeing to them. They are written to be read, not to be survived.

What we actually make

We make a replacement outer shell shaped like your car. We do not make keys, cut blades, or program electronics. Your original circuit board, buttons and battery contacts are transplanted into the shell we build, which is why we need your key in hand before we can start.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any vehicle manufacturer. Where a car's name appears on this site, it identifies which key a shell is shaped to fit. All manufacturer names and marks belong to their owners.

Ordering and payment

Prices are in US dollars and payment is taken by Stripe at checkout. Shipping in both directions is included in the price, and both legs are insured. We ship within the United States and Canada.

How your key gets to us

Do not post your key when you order. We build and paint your shell first, and only once it is finished do we email you a prepaid, insured shipping label for your key. That is usually two to three business days after you order.

Use the label we send. It is paid for and insured by us, so if the parcel goes missing on the way here you are covered — which is not something we could promise when that leg was arranged by you. Send the whole key exactly as it is.

How long it takes

About 8-17 business days from the day you order, or 6-10 with the express build. That covers the whole thing: building and painting your shell, the label reaching you, your key reaching us, moving the electronics across, and the finished fob coming back.

The one part outside our hands is how quickly you post your key once the label arrives. Carrier delays are outside everyone's hands.

The state of your key

We work with the electronics you send. If a key already has a failing board, a worn battery contact or water damage, that fault will still be there in a new shell, and we will tell you if we find one. We are not able to repair or replace the electronics themselves.

What we guarantee

Two things:

  • That it fits your key. If the shell does not take your electronics, we make it right.
  • That it arrives the way it left us. If something is off when you open the box — a wheel, the finish, a panel that is not right — we repair or replace it.
  • That your key is covered in transit, both ways. It travels on our insured labels in each direction.

What this does not cover is accidents. It is a plastic object on a keyring; drop it enough times and something will eventually give, and that one is on you. See our refund policy for how any of that is put right.

Limits

If something goes wrong, our responsibility is limited to the amount you paid for the order. We are not liable for indirect losses — time off work, a locksmith call-out, a missed journey. Nothing here removes rights you have under law that cannot be waived.

Where these terms apply

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version in force for your order is the one published on the day you placed it, and the date at the top tells you when this page last changed.
